Also www.coupons.com and www.smartsource.com have great coupons right now on huggies. Attached is a great one to print over and over. ALSO Rite Aid is having 2 great rebate offers. They are great about sending checks right away and when you buy 5 packages you get the 6th free (via mailed coupon which I just got!). With Rite Aid there's lots of $3 off #15 and $4 off $20 purchase coupons. Look up huggies under the 1st 2 websites I mentioned. I don't pay more than about $3-4 per package anymore. It's great!

H1N1 (Swine Flu) Prevention Kit

Thanks to Joann Swenson (Linda Bair's sister and Afton Alder's daughter) for passing on this info!

H1N1 FLU SURVIVAL KIT

These are items that should be included in your supplies to protect you from the H1N1 flu germs:

Face masks to keep from spreading germs. (Medical/surgical masks, disposable, and they need to be changed often.)

Cold/cough medicine, cough drops and/or cough syrup.

Pain-relief medication to reduce fever.

Gatorade to replace lost electrolytes.

Hand sanitizer (60% alcohol minimum).

Latex gloves to keep from spreading germs.

Pocket tissues, for sneezing into.

Sanitizer wipes, for counter tops, door knobs, and other “touchables”.

Protect yourself and others from spreading this virus !

Information from Dr. Vinay Goyal. He is an MBBS,DRM,DNB (Intensivist and Thyroid specialist) having clinical experience of over 20 years in regards to face masks:

Most N95 respirators are designed to filter 95% particulates of 0.3µ, while the size of H1N1 virus is about 0.1µ. Hence, dependence on N95 to protect against H1N1 is like protecting against rain with an umbrella made of mosquito net.  If you have swine flu, wearing a mask may help you from spreading the germs to others but the best way to do that is to STAY HOME and away from others!!

Vitamin D Update

Please note I have changed the levels of Vitamin D that are recommended taking daily to help build the immune system in the swine flu post

2000 IU for adults and 1000 for children.

Swine Flu Tips

A friend forwarded on this email to me and these are all very doable, no cost, precautions you can take to avoid swine flu.  Just received a call from my mother in law this morning - one of my nieces just had a baby yesterday and she has been diagnosed with swine flu - she is in isolation in the hospital.  It seems to be hitting pregnant women particularly hard.

Here are some great tips and precautions we can all take.

These tips come from an MD

He also mentioned the benefits of taking Vitamin D, as did Dr. Oz of Oprah fame
.
Boosting the immune system with Vitamin D3 adults  no more than 2000 iu a day and  children 1000 iu daily, is very helpful.

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or slap).

3. Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

4. Similar to 3 above, clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.

5. Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C. If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

6. Drink as much of warm liquids as you can. Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

Thought for the Week

President Spencer W Kimball said:

"As we travel and visit the people throughout the world, we recognize the great temporal needs of our people. And as we long to help them, we realize the vital importance of their learning this great lesson: that the highest achievement of spirituality comes as we conquer the flesh. We build character as we encourage people to care for their own needs. No amount of philosophizing, excuses, or rationalizing will ever change the fundamental need for self-reliance...The Lord declares that herein lies “the agency of man” (see D&C 93:31), and with this agency comes the responsibility for self. With this agency we can rise to glory or fall to condemnation. May we individually and collectively be ever self-reliant. This is our heritage and our obligation."
